Gender balance is not only an issue for women, but a universal challenge for all in the social, economic and environmental dimensions of the Sustainable Development Goals. Ensuring gender balance does not only encourage us all to be inspired in our work, but also benefit our organisational performance, which, I believe, will eventually bring effective impact to the environment and society as a whole. Therefore, it is my pleasure to participate in this aspirational initiative, the International Gender Champions, and commit to advancing gender equality.
I support the IGC Panel Parity Pledge.
I also commit to undertake the following:
Continue enhancing a gender balance at our New York Office through the human resources management process.
Actively encourage our female colleagues at all the divisions and regional offices in different areas of environmental issues, and draw up a list of potential speakers/ panellists to represent the UN Environment as experts, so that we can ensure gender parity at the conferences, workshops and other events, as well as propose them as a speaker(s) to our partners, if requested.
Deliver one major speech on gender and environment issues.
Maintain my continuous effort to highlight gender parity and gender equality in the successful implementation of the environmental agenda of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.
