In 2015, UNHCR commissioned a review of gender equity, diversity and inclusion in the Office’s workforce. The review was carried out by an independent consultant, Ms. Sarah Bond, who delivered a comprehensive report on the matter entitled “Framework for the future” at the end of 2015. While recognizing the already diverse workforce, the report highlights that gender balance in UNHCR remains to be achieved and identifies a number of areas for improvement to create a more diverse and inclusive environment. This side event is intended to share some key findings and recommendations from the report as well as to provide a brief update on progress made in ensuring an equitable, diverse, inclusive and non-discriminatory working environment and workforce.
