With the World Economic Forum's 2017 Global Gender Gap Report telling us that gender parity is over 200 years away, there has never been a better time to keep motivated and #PressforProgress. Indeed, this is the chosen theme for International Women’s Day 2018. The International Trade Centre (ITC), together with its partner Maersk, has chosen to highlight the role of women entrepreneurs moving from local business to global trade.
Women entrepreneurs trading globally
The event will premiere the film “SheTrades”, commissioned by Maersk in support of ITC’s SheTrades initiative. The story shares the parallel experiences of two women living their dreams and ambitions to export prime quality salmon from Alaska and tropical flowers from Ghana. The video shows how these women are fulfilling a role in development, moving from local business to global trade.
