There is much we can do to advance gender equality, both in the professional and personal context. 

While I have always been an advocate for equal access to the workplace and career progression based on merit, my passion for gender equality was triggered by witnessing the enormous difficulties my wife had when returning to work after pregnancy.

As a result, I became acutely aware that the gender equality equation cannot be limited to “gender equality at work”. Employers have a responsibility to look at the bigger picture and see their employees as not only employees, but also as moms and dads. As employers, if we look at this bigger picture, I believe we can play a major role in advancing gender equality - including supporting moms with their return to professional life.
