Director,
Energy Community
An energy transition will never be just unless the inequalities embedded in the energy system are identified and addressed. This should start with recognizing that women are disproportionally impacted by issues like energy poverty and climate change, but also by ensuring that women and men are equally represented at the decision-making table.
I support the IGC Panel Parity Pledge.
I support the IGC gender-based violence pledge.
Personal Commitments
Aim for a gender balanced representation in all events, in-person or online, and that no gender is restricted to the moderator or facilitator role. To achieve this, apply the internal guidelines on gender parity for both speakers and organizers. Collect updated and improved statistics (done in 2025) on the proportion of male and female speakers at Energy Community events, and compare them with data from previous years to assess the impact of actions undertaken in 2025, such as the inclusion of a gender parity commitment in all communication materials and awareness-raising activities for colleagues. Prepare an internal briefing, including an updated version of the guidelines, by March 2026.
Raise awareness on gender mainstreaming in energy policies and on measures to support and assist the Energy Community institutions and Contracting Parties. To this end, all possible events and documents will refer to/comment on the inclusion of gender equality issues. In this context, the Energy Community will review updated National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs) of all Contracting Parties and intends to comment on relevant gender equality issues to increase the impact of planned activities for the implementation period. The Energy Community will also organise a gender event in March 2026 (topic to be defined). Prepare a comprehensive report on the current landscape of gender‑disaggregated data in the energy sector across Energy Community Contracting Parties to raise awareness of its importance and foster informed, gender‑responsive energy policy and practice.
