Permanent Mission of Japan to the International Organizations in Vienna
I will do my utmost to support the efforts of the IOs in Vienna in promoting gender equality and an equitable work-life balance in my capacity as head of the Permanent Mission of Japan.
I believe in the power of diversity brought about by the interaction of people from varied backgrounds, and in the power that the different personalities, nationalities, genders, values, personal and family situations of each can have on the world in today's convoluted society.
I support the IGC Panel Parity Pledge.
I support the IGC gender-based violence pledge.
Personal Commitments
Regarding SDGs 5, gender equality, in many areas, progress has been too slow. I support the efforts of the IOs in Vienna to accelerate gender equality. I will contribute to improving the visibility of projects implemented by IOs in Vienna, highlighting the gender perspective.
As head of the Mission, I believe that the vitality of the organization lies in: 1. the diversity of ideas that staff members of different nationalities, genders, values, and personal or family situations bring to the organization, 2. communication across departments crossing boundaries, and 3. the creation of a safe environment to foster an open and constructive conversation. We will promote a more diverse and inclusive workplace by encouraging our staff members to balance their work and personal life through such measures as remote working.
