Gender equality is both the right thing and the smart thing to do. The time to act is now! Let us work together to build capacity and enhance awareness for gender equality, enhance gender representation, increase awareness and accountability and further engagement with external partners.
Strengthen policies and practices to advance equality and inclusion within ICAO: ensure gender balance (in a spectrum of minimum 45% -55%) in selection and recruitment of staff; allow for flexibility in working hours at ICAO and encourage homeworking when necessary for family reasons; commit to cultivate a positive and supportive organization culture among all staff where gender equality and empowerment of women are measurable and embedded in all decision-making; ensure that staff other than gender expert attends at least one side event or meeting with a gender-dimension; create a mentorship programme where female staff members can interact freely with and be mentored by senior management.
Report to the Secretary-General of the United Nations any allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse that are brought to its attention and take appropriate measures to address such allegations, in accordance with established rules and procedures for dealing with cases of staff misconduct, and furthermore develop dedicated policies to tackle harassment and casual sexism, and report on them.
