Catherine Pollard
Under-Secretary-General for Management Strategy, Policy, Compliance,
United Nations

An institutional culture that embraces diversity and equal opportunities is key for the UN to properly fulfil its mission. As leaders, we must set the tone and sponsor efforts to achieve gender equality. In my role as USG of DMSPC, I have supported initiatives to increase senior managers accountability, empower women, further involve men in the promotion of gender equality, raise awareness of the negative impact of gender stereotyping in the workplace and beyond, and promote the use of gender-inclusive language at the UN.
I support the IGC Panel Parity Pledge.
I support the IGC gender-based violence pledge.
Personal Commitments
As chair of the High-Level Committee on Management (HLCM) and as USG DMSPC, I commit to continue ensuring that we prioritize gender equality for our Organization. Transforming into a UN 2.0 requires that we become a more inclusive institution with a zero-tolerance culture for gender-based violence, including acts of discrimination, sexual exploitation and abuse, and harassment.
I also commit to support the 2023 gender capacity assessment of DMSPC to discover the gaps in gender knowledge and perceptions thus allowing us to further the progress of a capacity development plan that guides the advancement of gender equality in my Department.
