Chantal Mutamuriza
Head of the Pan-African Office,
Save the Children International African Union Liaison Office
Steering Committee
I have witnessed women and girls transform pain into purpose and adversity into leadership. Gender equality is not about giving power to women and girls, it is about removing the barriers that prevent their power from flourishing. When every girl can learn, lead, and live free from violence, we do not simply change individual lives, we transform communities, nations, and the future of our world
I support the IGC Panel Parity Pledge.
I support the IGC gender-based violence pledge.
Personal Commitments
I will use my voice and leadership position to speak out against unfairness, discrimination, and harmful gender stereotypes whenever I encounter them, and promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and equality within my professional and personal spheres of influence.
Throughout 2026 and 2027, I will use my leadership position within Save the Children and my engagement with African Union institutions to actively challenge discrimination, bias and harmful gender stereotypes. I will consistently advocate for gender-responsive policies and inclusive participation in meetings and decision-making processes and support at least three initiatives that promote the meaningful participation and leadership of women and girls in humanitarian, education, and peacebuilding spaces.
