Gender equality is an essential part of achieving a more just and balanced society for men and women alike. By creating a more equal partaking in society, it serves the long-term social and economic development of any country. International organisations, like the UN, play a crucial part in the promotion of gender equality. As the Permanent Representative of the Host Country, Austria, I am particularly proud to welcome the International Gender Champions initiative here in Vienna and to be a part of this endeavour.
