Dennis Francis
Ambassador, Permanent Representative and Former President of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly,
Permanent Mission of Trinidad and Tobago to the United Nations in New York
I firmly believe that women must be allowed to play a key role in order to achieve the sustainable development goals. Therefore, we must work together as a global community to accelerate our efforts in bolstering their contribution by undertaking critical initiatives to change the negative behaviours and stereotypes, at all levels, to ensure that the rights of all women and girls are upheld and that they live a life free of fear and free from all forms of violence.
I support the IGC Panel Parity Pledge.
I support the IGC gender-based violence pledge.
Personal Commitments
I commit to plan and execute two events, with panels reflecting gender parity and intersectionality on the ways in which gender equality and intersectionality can be interwoven into educational systems to ensure fair access to quality education for children everywhere, specifically in the context of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and the Arts.
I commit to holding a High-Level event during the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly focused on accelerating action towards gender quality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability.
