Dr. Robin Geiss

In my first month as the Director of UNIDIR, I am honored and delighted to become an International Gender Champion. We must go beyond “gender” as a buzzword and effectively ensure that gender equality considerations are at the core of all we do at the Institute. At UNIDIR, we will use gender as a lens that amplifies the effectiveness of our mission, working towards a more sustainable and peaceful world.

I support the IGC Panel Parity Pledge.

I support the IGC gender-based violence pledge.

Personal Commitments

I will ensure that gender considerations and their relevance for arms control and disarmament are at the forefront of at least two of my speaking engagements as Director of UNIDIR.
UNIDIR will carry out research to understand women’s role as agents of disarmament and security, particularly as professionals in the field of Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM). The research will be useful to identify best practices to transforming gender stereotypes and unlocking professional opportunities for women in this area.
