Hivos values diversity in all its dimensions, and we work to be inclusive in all our activities. We are committed in particular to working to be more inclusive of women and LGBTQ+ persons. We recognise that many groups are under-represented in development activities, including women, non-binary persons, sexual minorities, ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, and other socially disadvantaged populations. This is why Hivos not only looks closely at gender equity, but also considers the intersection of gender with other forms of marginalisation. We are very proud to be able to say that in 2019 40% of our total organizational budget supported gender equality and diversity inclusion, with 25% targeting women's empowerment, surpassing our previous goal of committing 15% of our resources to the advancement of women's equality.
