President and CEO, United Nations Foundation
Elizabeth Cousens

Gender equality and the rights of girls and women has been a core pillar of the United Nations Foundation’s work since its founding.

With the Decade of Action for the Sustainable Development Goals and the opportunity of the Generation Equality journey, we are at a pivotal moment to accelerate equality for all, in concert with our UN and multi-stakeholder partners. I pledge to continue to champion, elevate and support the leadership, priorities, and tireless efforts of girls and women in all their diversity.

I support the IGC Panel Parity Pledge.

I support the IGC gender-based violence pledge.

Personal Commitments

To meaningfully engage youth leaders, especially young women leaders, the UN Foundation will host an annual interactive dialogue with its senior leadership and youth leaders, including Girl Up’s Teen Advisory Board, starting in 2022.
To continue and expand our efforts on greater diversity, equity, and inclusion, the UN Foundation (UNF) will pilot a semester-long undergraduate paid internship program for young women of color in New York and DC through local university partnerships in 2022.
