It is my job to steer UNHCR towards embracing and promoting gender equality and other forms of inclusion and diversity. We have no option but to have diversity at the table when we are making decisions and developing solutions to meet the complex and challenging forced displacement situations we are faced with in today’s world. I am committed to ensuring that my organisation upholds the value of gender equality through the inclusion of women and men both within UNHCR, with our implementing partners and through the participation of displaced people. I see my role as a leader is to be mindful of this in my decision making and in communicating clearly to others that I expect this of them also.
UNHCR will develop a policy on workforce inclusion, diversity and gender equity.
UNHCR will roll out and implement the Policy on Age, Gender and Diversity 2018 in its operations.
