Gender equality is more than just SDG 5 – it is a cross-cutting issue that encompasses all SDGs and an integral part of a just and inclusive society. In order to reach a society’s full potential, gender equality must be common sense. I therefore firmly believe that international organisations, like the UN, play a crucial role in the promotion of gender equality, so we need to step up our efforts and work together to achieve gender equality. As Permanent Representative of Austria, a host country to the UN, and being actively engaged in the Foreign Ministry’s Working Group on Equal Treatment as Vice-Chair, I see it as my duty to advance this endeavour and I am proud to be a part of this great initiative!
