Gilles Michaud
Under-Secretary-General for Safety and Security,
United Nations Department of Safety and Security
I am firmly committed to gender equality and the empowerment of women, recognizing that it is essential for effective security services. A diverse, inclusive, and gender-balanced workforce is essential to better security decision-making. I am determined to make the Department more inclusive and gender-responsive, understanding that diversity, equality, and inclusion education and actions are key to providing effective, efficient, and credible security globally.
I support the IGC Panel Parity Pledge.
I support the IGC gender-based violence pledge.
Personal Commitments
I support the promotion of a safe, inclusive, and gender-responsive work environment that reflects the core values of the United Nations and the people it serves and will strengthen accountability for leadership by providing clear expectations and ensuring that leaders lead by example, taking concrete actions to foster change and setting forth their commitments as UNDSS leaders.
I will increase outreach to under-represented Member States, partners, and institutions globally to make United Nations Security a more attractive career choice for people from diverse backgrounds and origins; Dedicating time to engage personally in this outreach and striving to meet on a regular basis with a different Member State, partner, or institution to discuss how to fill vacancies in the department efficiently.
