Diverse and inclusive societies make our world more safe, secure and prosperous, and achieving gender equality is a priority for Australia in all of our international engagement. I am committed to advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment in the work we do in Vienna, including to improve the representation of women, in all their diversity, in Vienna-based organisations.
I support the IGC Panel Parity Pledge.
I support the IGC gender-based violence pledge.
Personal Commitments
I will continue to champion the full, equal and meaningful participation and leadership of women in multilateral fora in Vienna, in line with Australia’s commitments under the Women, Peace and Security Agenda. This includes actively promoting and collaborating with academics and experts to highlight the critical role that women can, and already do, play in peacebuilding efforts. Through these efforts, I will contribute to strengthening women’s leadership, visibility, and influence across the international system.
I will continue to use my convening power to foster likeminded and cross regional solidarity on gender equality and women’s empowerment across the full spectrum of work undertaken by Vienna based multilateral organisations. As part of coordinated efforts to address ongoing pushback on agreed language, I will continue to hold the line on gender equality as an essential component of international decisions in which Australia has a voice, ensuring that longstanding normative commitments are protected and advanced in all relevant negotiations.
