Diverse and inclusive societies make our world more safe, secure and prosperous, and achieving gender equality is a priority for Australia in all of our international engagement. I am committed to advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment in the work we do in Vienna, including to improve the representation of women, in all their diversity, in Vienna-based organisations.
I support the IGC Panel Parity Pledge.
I support the IGC gender-based violence pledge.
Personal Commitments
1. Work with our partners, across the bilateral and multilateral responsibilities of the Australian Embassy and Permanent Mission, to mainstream a gender perspective, prioritise gender equality and enhance women’s leadership in policy, practice and programming. We will hold Vienna-based organisations accountable for their actions to advance gender equality and continue to comment publicly and privately on the success of these activities, including by encouraging them to monitor, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of gender equality policies and programs.
2. Implement the Australian Embassy and Permanent Mission’s Women in Leadership Action Plan. The Action Plan provides a comprehensive roadmap for our team to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment both within our organisation and in our external activities, while recognising the importance of diversity and inclusion, and intersectional perspectives.
