It is my pleasure to be among the founders of the new Paris Hub of the International Gender Champions Initiative.
Gender equality is key if we want to have just, inclusive, dynamic and prosperous societies that benefit all. Therefore, we have to make further efforts to fight discriminatory legal and social norms, mainstream gender in policy-making, disaggregate data based on gender and, last but not least, ensure that women are represented in leadership positions and decision-making. The OECD and its members are already doing much in these areas, and I am honored to take the pledge and sign up to the commitments in order to contribute to this work.
Promote work-family life balance through: 1) early information and advance notice of meetings to enhance predictability and planning, and 2) avoid calling meetings taking place during evenings, weekends and public holidays.
Highlight gender equality and women's empowerment in the work of the OECD: 1) by co-chairing the meetings of OECD “Friends of Gender Equality Plus” group; 2) by chairing the meetings of the OECD External Relations Committee and participating in other OECD events in the area of external relations.
