Promoting gender equality in peacekeeping makes our missions more effective and efficient.
I will continue to prioritize the creation of an enabling work environment in my Department for all staff members, regardless of their sex, gender identity, race, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, etc.; including by developing a Values Statement and monitoring the implementation of initiatives put in place to support it.
In line with the Secretary-General’s A4P initiative and his Call to Action to peacekeeping stakeholders, I will prioritize the implementation of gender equality and women, peace and security mandates, in particular women’s full, equal and meaningful participation in political and peace processes. To this end, I commit to promoting the use of data-driven gender analysis and including the experiences and views of women leaders and organizations as a basis for decision-making in my Department.
