Joanna Roper

I’m delighted to be an International Gender Champion here in the Hague.  As the first UK Special Envoy for Gender Equality, I have seen for myself the difference that can be made when we take account of women’s voices, needs, experiences and contributions.  Whether women, peace and security, girls’ education, or addressing violence in conflict, we all need to actively hold ourselves accountable to ensure women and girls have a place and a future.

I support the IGC Panel Parity Pledge.

I support the IGC gender-based violence pledge.

Personal Commitments

I will pursue our priorities of women, peace and security (WPS) and preventing sexual violence in conflict (PSVI) including ensuring the voices of survivors of conflict-related sexual violence are heard and accountability pursued.
I will support women in the office and around the network through coaching, mentor and other opportunities, including the Ambassador for a Day initiative. I will also provide visible support to fellow female ambassadors via the Women Ambassadors’ Group in The Hague.
