There are unconscious and conscious factors influencing gender bias in business and concrete ways leaders can unwind them. Adopting a mindset of a gender champion is a first step. If business leaders can shift from unconsciously gender-biased decisions to consciously championing women, imagine the possibilities for women to be treated fairly at work, rise through development opportunities, and increase the health and safety of both women and men in the workplace.
The UN Global Compact will organize a minimum of 3 expert-led and interactive how-to sessions ("academy sessions") by the end of the year to help companies align their business strategies with SDG 5 and the Women's Empowerment Principles and achieve gender equality within their own organization.
The UN Global Compact will launch a Global Impact Initiative in collaboration with Global Compact Local Networks to encourage Global Compact participants to set corporate targets to increase the representation of women in leadership.
