The promotion of gender equality and women empowerment is a top priority of Italy's foreign policy and development cooperation. It requires a comprehensive approach with cross-cutting initiatives and a long-term committment by every person, men and women, at all level. I am therefore particularly pleased to join the International Gender Champions initiative and contribute to this common endeavor.
