Addressing gender equality must not be an afterthought or an addition. It is central to ensuring a fair, just and rights based society and multilateral trading system and must therefore be central to our work, research, advocacy and policy making. As a Gender Champion I will continue to highlight the importance of gender in trade and climate change policy and in supporting equality and human rights for all.
I support the IGC Panel Parity Pledge.
I support the IGC gender-based violence pledge.
Personal Commitments
I commit to being involved in two mentoring initiatives a year focused on supporting the empowerment and equality of women in the workplace.
I have led the work of the MSMEs WG with the WTO Trade and Gender WG to produce a compendium of initiatives to provide access to finance for women owned and led businesses. I commit to launching this at the WTO Ministerial Conference in February in UAE. In my role as Chair of the MSMEs WG at WTO I am creating a special agenda item on spotlight on SMEs where we will be showcasing SMES. I commit to ensure that at least half of the SMEs under the MSME spotlight are women.
