Ambassador, Permanent Representative, Permanent Mission of Canada to the WTO in Geneva
Nadia Theodore

Women have always led. We have been majority contributors to global economic, political and social progress over centuries. However, the structural barriers and persistent negative perceptions associated with women in leadership has meant that our contributions are often minimized as part of the narrative and left out of the history books. Equality means ensuring that women’s contributions are properly counted and recorded, while increasing women’s access to formal decision-making structures. As an International Gender Champion, I commit to help change the narrative around women in leadership.

I support the IGC Panel Parity Pledge.

I support the IGC gender-based violence pledge.

Personal Commitments

I commit to ensuring that Permanent Mission of Canada to the World Trade Organization in Geneva, in collaboration with other international organizations and missions, continues to support and actively advance initiatives to lower barriers to trade in the global trading architecture for women and girls.
I commit to continue mentoring initiatives focused on supporting equality in the workplace and advocating for the advancement of women in leadership positions. I also commit to showcasing Canadian women in trade throughout the year in Geneva and beyond.
