Omar Zniber
Ambassador, Permanent Representative,
Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Morocco to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva and President of the Human Rights Council
The oldest operating university in the world was founded in Morocco by a woman – Fatima Al Fihri. It is only fair to say that we stand on the shoulders of giants and it is time we make actionable change to acknowledge that fact.
I support the IGC Panel Parity Pledge.
I support the IGC gender-based violence pledge.
Personal Commitments
Encourage all Permanent Missions and Permanent Observer Missions to the United Nations Office in Geneva to invite the Delegates serving at the Mission to complete the United Nations online courses on gender equality and the prevention of sexual harassment. This initiative is part of our collective efforts to promote a more equal, inclusive, and respectful working environment at the United Nations and beyond.
Women have always played a central role in diplomacy, yet their contributions have often been shadowed. I commit to organize a major event to give the spotlight to the 24th of June, the International Day of Women in Diplomacy, to celebrate the legacy of all Women in Diplomacy.
