Peter MacDougall

Advancing gender equality and the human rights of women and girls, in all their diversity, is essential to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. True progress - in health, disarmament, humanitarian efforts, labour, digital innovation, and human rights - depends on the full, equal, and meaningful participation and leadership of women and girls and the dismantling of structural barriers to gender equality. By fostering diversity and inclusivity in our policies and practices, we not only strengthen our institutions but enhance outcomes for diverse communities worldwide. Together, we must continue to drive transformative change for gender equality.

I support the IGC Panel Parity Pledge.

I support the IGC gender-based violence pledge.

Personal Commitments

I commit to ensuring that year-round the Permanent Mission of Canada to the UN and the Conference on Disarmament engages a diverse range of organizations to ensure that our initiatives, including resolutions, joint statements, and side events, advance the human rights of women and girls, in all their diversity, and aim to address and dismantle barriers to gender equality.
I commit to working closely with the member states of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) to ensure that gender equality is mainstreamed and actively advanced across our Geneva-based initiatives, including joint statements, particularly in the areas of human rights, health, humanitarian action and labour.
