“Finland was the first country in the world to grant women full political rights. Therefore, it is natural for our nation to promote gender equality extensively in the foreign and security policy. As a Gender Champion I emphasise the realization of equality not only in formal legislation but also in every day practices. Concrete policies in families, schools and working places play a crucial role in actualizing gender equality. I am fully committed to promote work and life balance in my working environment and to actively advocate for true gender equality in various institutions.”
In our dialogue with international organisations in Vienna, encourage organisations to: 1) attain gender balance at management levels (P5 or equivalent and above) through both short- and long term measures, including the creation of a more conducive work environment, and 2) integrate the gender dimension in programmes, policies, and normative and operational work.
Promote work-family life balance through: 1) early information and advance notice of meetings to enhance predictability and planning, and 2) avoid calling meetings taking place during evenings, weekends and public holidays.
