Reintje van Haeringen
CEO,
CARE Nederland
Gender equality is at the heart of CARE's mission. For more than 20 years we have been working to address power relations, to build women's and girls' agency, and to transform structures. In all the work that we do – from humanitarian assistance, to food and water rights security, to climate justice and women’s economic justice – we have learned that integrating a gender perspective is key. Without this perspective we cannot tackle the unequal power relations which underpin inequality and poverty. With it, we can create a fairer world.
I support the IGC Panel Parity Pledge.
I support the IGC gender-based violence pledge.
Personal Commitments

We will use existing tooling to ensure that our humanitarian action programming moves from gender sensitive to gender responsive and our development programming from gender responsive to gender transformative. I commit to advocate for women’s rights, in particular women’s economic justice and women’s voice and leadership, and support women’s organisations to do the same in their contexts. I will also strive to make space at the table in international fora and bring their voices to The Netherlands, so that we do not speak about them, but with them.
