Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, United Nations
I consider the commitment to gender equality indispensable. Inclusion and diversity are integral to our mandate and role in promoting international peace and security. I strongly encourage my colleagues to follow suit in committing to adapting our working methods and organizational culture and to further strengthen our efforts in addressing gender as well as Women, Peace and Security commitments. Only then we can create the necessary conditions for lasting and sustainable change in our Organization and the world.
I support the IGC Panel Parity Pledge.
I support the IGC gender-based violence pledge.
Promote and support, where requested, the introduction of temporary special measures, including gender quotas, as a means to increase women’s electoral/political participation.
