There is a severe gender imbalance in Information and Communications Technology work in most countries around the world. In the UN, we cannot change this on our own, but we need to recognise it and ensure that we do not exaggerate it through unconscious bias in the way we recruit and manage our staff and contractors. I am committed to challenging avoidable gender inequality wherever it occurs in our work, and to doing my part to make progress towards a better ICT industry for the future.
