The core of the International Gender Champions work begins with the Panel Parity Pledge and Two Smart commitments that each Champion makes every year.
The Panel Parity Pledge: Creating International Awareness & raising women’s voices
Visibility is key for role models in the public space and the workplace, and women’s distinct and expert voices must be elevated through gender parity. Diverse points of view generate sustainable, innovative solutions, and lead to a change in culture.
Through the Panel Parity Pledge, Champions commit to no longer take part in any single-sex panels. This Pledge has made the notion of single-sex panels unacceptable in the hubs where IGC operates and Champions have thus taken the lead in raising awareness of the need to ensure gender parity.

S.M.A.R.T. Commitments: A thousand steps closer to gender equality
Each Gender Champion makes two personal commitments to advance gender equality in their organisation or programmatic work. All Gender Champions report on their commitments in the end of each calendar year. Some examples are including below. These commitments are:
- Specific to the Champion and their organisation
Since IGC’s foundation in 2015, Champions have made over 1,000 commitments collectively, in such areas as good governance, leadership & accountability, work-life balance, programmatic work, organisational culture etc.

In addition to the Panel Parity Pledge, each Gender Champion makes two individual annual commitments specific to moving gender equality forward in their organization.
I commit to put forward a transformative agenda for the HIV response and the UNAIDS Secretariat. Dedicated gender and feminist leadership expertise will be deployed aimed at fostering a feminist culture and concerted action taken to fully implement the Gender Action Plan 2018-2023.
I will galvanize leadership and support to countries to enhance access of adolescent girls and young women to integrated sexual and reproductive health information, education and services as well as to ensure the removal of barriers and harmful social norms which result in 6,200 adolescent girls and young women acquiring HIV every week.
IDLO will improve gender mainstreaming in its programmes by institutionalizing gender expertise and a gender perspective in throughout its policy advocacy, research and learning, and field-based programming and work. IDLO will ensure the full implementation of its Gender Strategy. In particular, it will: Build program staff expertise and capacity to integrate gender in their work (at least 3 workshops/training a year); Develop an issue paper on a priority gender and justice concern (women and customary and informal justice); Organize policy events on justice for women at the global and country levels, including processes relating to the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Platform for Action (at least 2 events a year).
IDLO will strengthen the recruitment of women in the judiciary and legal professions, including by strengthening knowledge on the barriers and pathways for women in the justice sector and by enhancing the capacity of women justice actors. Specifically, it will: Disseminate the findings of it global research on enhancing participation of women justice professionals by organizing policy events at global or local levels (2 per year); Launch country-specific studies on contributions and barriers women justice professionals face when delivering justice (2).
