Our very special guest for la rentrée’s 2016 Brown Bag Lunch is:

Swiss expert Patricia Schulz elected to serve a second mandate as member of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).

CEDAW is a body of independent experts based in Geneva that monitors the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women.

Since her appointment to the Committee in 2011, Ms Schulz has been country rapporteur on several occasions. A former Director of the Swiss Federal Office for equality between women and men, she is familiar with the challenges faced by countries in the reporting cycle, especially when it comes to implementing commitments to human rights. She is also chairing the working group on working methods to improve the Committee’s efficiency. She has devoted great attention to issues such as women in armed conflict, migration and asylum as well as access to justice for women.
