Join us to debate about cultural practices in Kyrgyzstan, and sexual violence in conflict situations.

PANELISTS
- Sophie Sutrich, Institutional Lead on Sexual Violence, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) - Sophie will speak about the practical aspects of addressing sexual violence in conflict settings. This will include a short overview of the nature of sexual violence in armed conflicts, its causes, constituents and consequences, and will focus on challenges as well as best practices of prevention and response.
- Elena Kim, Associate Professor and Head of Social Sciences Division, American University of Central Asia (AUCA) - Elena will present the practice of bride kidnapping in Central Asia, illustrating how human insecurities work to incite violence in gendered ways and structure gender relations.
