In light of the challenges and opportunities arising from the digital transformation of the economy, the aim of this high-level thematic event is to identify and analyse persisting and newly arising inequalities constraining women's meaningful participation in the economy.  To address existing barriers and identify new risks that may widen the gender gap, experts from among OSCE participating States will share effective good practices and tangible policy responses.

After a high-level opening, three thematic sessions will discuss ways forward to ensure enhanced representation of women in STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine) - related careers, such as policies necessary to create an environment for women and girls opting for STEMM education and professions, building skills crucial for the digital age, lifelong learning opportunities to ensure and women´s digital literacy.

Another focus of the conference will be on how labour market adjustments caused by digitalisation will affect women and the potential responses that can be made to ensure they will benefit from new forms of employment, including shared economy and web-based female entrepreneurships.

Building on existing OSCE commitments towards women´s economic participation and empowerment, this thematic event aims to take advantage of the opportunities associated with the digital transformation to further advance OSCE efforts in this domain.
