During this side-event, UN Women will present its new flagship report “Progress of the world’s women 2019–2020: Families in a changing world”.

At a critical juncture for women’s rights, it analyses key issues such as family laws, employment, unpaid care work, violence against women, as well as families and migration and proposes a comprehensive family-friendly policy agenda to advance gender equality in diverse families.

Following the presentation of the report, representatives from governments, UN agencies and civil society will discuss national experiences of innovative family law reforms and social policies that have contributed to promoting gender equality and the human rights of women and girls.
