Acclaimed Aboriginal professional photographer and videographer Wayne Quilliam has attended a number of the conversations held as part of the Wiyi Yani U Thangani project, and has documented these important discussions. The powerful images and videos he has produced, combined with the all-too-rare elevation of the voices of Aboriginal women and girls to the international level, demonstrate the importance of this project. They also showcase a best practice example of a human rights based approach to empowering Indigenous women and girls around the world, as well as other women in vulnerable situations or belonging to vulnerable groups.
On 25 June at 12:00 p.m., join us for the launch of an exhibition of these photographs, along with immersive videos, explanations, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander traditional artworks, and presentations from Commissioner Oscar on the success of the project.
