Pressing for Progress: Renewing UNHCR’s Commitment to Age, Gender, and Diversity

In celebration of International Women’s Day, this event will highlight UNHCR’s longstanding commitment to placing people at the centre of its programmes and integrating their diverse needs and perspectives into all aspects of protection, assistance and solutions. Over the last decade, significant progress has been made in addressing the unique protection dimensions arising from age, gender and diversity factors in displacement; but challenges remain. The panellists will share their own experiences and address how an inclusive approach can bring positive change to affected communities.

Moderated by Mr. Volker Turk, Assistant High Commissioner for Protection, UNHCR

Speakers:

Ms. Nujeen Mustafa, UNHCR Supporter and co-author of ‘Girl From Aleppo’

Ms. Ahlam Kamaleldin Idris, SPARK15 NGO, Malta

Ms. Farah Abdullahi Abdi, Blogger, writer and author of ‘Never Arrive’

Mr. Gareth Price-Jones, Senior Humanitarian Policy and Advocacy Officer, CARE International Secretariat
