Background
This meeting is part of a series of regional meetings co-hosted from 2021 until 2023 by Invent Together and WIPO, to raise awareness about IP diversity gaps, notably the gender gap. In each region, the partners are organizing three sessions:
• First, a high-level political discussion about why and how IP offices are taking action to address the gap;
• Second, a discussion among IP office chief economists and scholars about best practices in quantifying the gap; and
• Third, a closed-door exchange among companies and technology transfer offices about their initiatives, best practices, and progress achieved to date.
The inaugural series of meetings took place in October 2021, May 2022 and NovemberDecember 2022, focusing on the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific respectively. The webcasts of the high-level political discussion (the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific) as well as the chief economists/scholars meeting (the Americas, Europe and AsiaPacific) are available on the WIPO website for viewing. The third meetings were closeddoor to ensure an open, candid discussion. The goal of this program is to gather information about what is being done to address the IP diversity gaps, what can be replicated and scaled globally, and what new global actions may be identified that will have a tangible positive impact in enabling REGISTRATION underrepresented groups to use patents and other IP rights.
