The panel discussion will bring together representatives of governments, the UN, private sector and WHRDs to:

  1. Reaffirm commitments to create and scale up effective digital solutions that support and protect the work and safety of WHRDs;
  2. Jointly reflect on the emerging threats and challenges posed to WHRDs by digitalization; and
  3. Develop strategies and exchange ideas through revitalized multi stakeholder collaboration to harness the transformative potential of innovative technologies that support and protect the safety of gender equality activists.

Speakers

The side event will commence with opening remarks by:

  • Ms Lone Thorup, Deputy Permanent Representative to the Mission of Denmark to the UN in Geneva
  • Representative, Member State (TBC)

An interactive discussion will follow and be moderated by Christine Löw, Director, Liaison Office Geneva, UN Women.
