As outlined in WILPF written statement to HRC39, many Libyan women activists criticise the lack of formal recognition and real political will from the international community to support Libyan women’s meaningful participation in formal political and peace processes. WILPF is honoured to host a delegation of women activists from Libya with the aim of presenting evidence and exchange locally-driven experiences and good practices. This side event will address the gap between the support provided by the international community to build capacities of Libyan women activists to impact the peace process and the lack of meaningful opportunity to engage in it.
