Women and girls of African descent may face intersecting forms of discrimination based on race, ethnicity, sex, gender, nationality and migration status among others. As part of the implementation of the International Decade for People of African Descent, OHCHR has published a report on the enjoyment of human rights by women and girls of African descent, revealing how discrimination affects them and highlighting achievements. The report focuses on women who belong to communities descended from victims of the transatlantic slave trade and migrant African women in the diaspora.
