On 21 October 2021, the Council of Women World Leaders and International Gender Champions co-hosted a leadership exchange with the former President of Finland and a member of the Council of Women World Leaders, Tarja Halonen.

Nneka Henry, Head of the United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF) in Geneva, is spearheading the issue of safe and sustainable mobility, including how it affects women and men differently. The International Gender Champions sits down with her for an interview to explore this topic.

"Spain's Feminist Foreign Policy: Promoting Gender Equality in Spain's External Action" is prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain, and presented by the President of the Government of Spain, Mr. Pedro Sånchez, on March 10.

One of the main goals of this Feminist Foreign Policy is to give greater weight to gender issues on the agenda of different International Organizations, be it through improving collaboration with other countries in this area, supporting candidates who promote this priority, or ensuring that a gender approach is integrated into planification of activities.

Tapping into IGC’s collective wisdom globally was the inspiration behind our first ever IGC Time to Talk - Champion Conversation Series.

On 29 June 2021, six Champions from International Organisations and Civil Society in the Geneva and Den Haag hubs came together to discuss how to keep gender on the agenda within organisations.

Six Champions from International Organisations, Civil Society Organisations and Member States in Geneva, New York and Paris had a lively and determined exchange on what actions are needed in order to embody feminist leadership and fully achieve representation beyond just numbers in multilateral fora such as the United Nations ecosystem, Parliaments, Councils and Assemblies.

On 22 June, eight Champions from across the IGC Network gathered for an IGC Time to Talk Conversation on Work-Life Balance and Family-Friendly Policies.

Ahead of the Generation Equality Forum (GEF) in Paris this June, the IGC Global Board has approved a new, network wide Pledge to stand for zero tolerance of gender-based violence (GBV), sexist attitudes and behaviour.  This will be an IGC commitment to the Generation Equality Forum and aims to tackle some of the deepest and most harmful norms that prevent the equal rights of women and girls being realised.

June is Pride Month and in the U.S. we also commemorate “Juneteenth” on June 19th; the marking of the end of slavery in the U.S. Already widely recognized, we applaud the U.S. House of Reps for recently voting overwhelmingly to formalize Juneteenth as a national federal holiday. OEF wants to extend our support for these celebrations and reflect on our approach to issues of equity and inclusion.
