It is jointly organized by the CEB Task Force on Addressing Sexual Harassment, the UN Secretariat, UN Women and the Group of Friends to Eliminate Sexual Harassment
Champions-Only Event: Online Conference on Women’s Empowerment in the Arab Region: Recent Developments and the Way Forward
The objective of the event is to help showcase the importance of CEDAW in advancing women’s empowerment in all areas of life and invite panellists to showcase efforts to empower women in different fields. The Conference aims to serve as a platform where experiences among parliamentarians can be shared, common challenges can be identified, and solutions can be collectively devised. The event aims at contributing to the building of strong partnerships that result in stronger action towards women’s empowerment in parliaments in the Arab region.

Emerging Power: Women in Nuclear Disarmament and Non-proliferation
The webinar will concentrate on the connection between the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – particularly SDG 5, “Gender Equality” – and nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament, shedding light on the challenges as well as illuminating the opportunities. It will seek to raise awareness and offer recommendations for how increased gender equality can further the disarmament agenda. Additionally, the webinar aims to foster an intergenerational dialogue on the importance of women’s role in nuclear issues, featuring both more advanced career professionals alongside young burgeoning experts from the CYG.
